So we went to see another doctor today, to know for sure about Emi's condition. A real doctor, not just another ER visit. Emi thought, based on evidence, it's a missed miscarriage.

They initially made us leave for an hour, then come back and see a different doctor than we'd meant to, because this new doctor was an OB/GYN. So we went across the street to the 99-cent store with three dollars I'd very luckily found to get food (we were starving).

When we got back, they asked for a urine sample, during which Emi noticed that she was now bleeding in earnest, not just spotting anymore. Like in the middle of your period. When the OB/GYN checked her cervex, it was open, and she pulled out this really icky looking stuff that turned out to be the baby and the egg sac. So there's our answer, I suppose.

We're both depressed. That's a given. But it comes in waves, and there are bright points. Like I now have more time to get my act together, and we can get back on our feet financially. But they seem sort of dim compared to the bad news.

So, nothing's certain yet, but odds are high that Emi's miscarrying. If so, the baby probably died last week, around the time Emi's foot was hurting.

This hurts so badly. I want to just shut myself away. I mean... there was everything else going wrong, and this on top of it is just too much. I don't know how I'm going to bear it. Right now I'm crying, but I feel sort of numb.
